ENSAI: “CYBERSCHOOL” & “DIGISPORT” PARTNER

ENSAI is involved in the creation of two of the three University Research Schools (EUR) from Rennes that were recently granted funding through the French government’s Investissements d’avenir program.

Selected by an international jury, University Research Schools offer higher education institutions the possibility to reinforce the impact and international attractiveness of their research and educational programs in one or several scientific fields. EURs combine Master and PhD-level programs with high-level research laboratories.

The University Research Schools from Rennes are led by the consortium of universities and schools which are part of the Université de Rennes project (EHESP, ENSCR, ENS Rennes, INSA Rennes, Sciences Po Rennes, Université de Rennes 1, and Université Rennes 2). ENSAI is part of this project as an associated member, along with CentraleSupélec, EESAB, ENSAB, and IMT Atlantique. The CNRS, INRIA lab, Rennes Metropolitan government, and the region of Brittany are also part of the project.

According to Olivier Biau, Director of ENSAI, “It’s a great collective success for the higher education community in Rennes as well as for ENSAI and its CREST research laboratory, whose expertise in Statistics and Data Science will be of great use to the Cyber Security and Digital Sport EURs.”

CYBERSCHOOL: RESEARCH SCHOOL IN CYBER SECURITY

Led by the Université de Rennes 1, CyberSchool will offer innovative and cutting-edge Master, PhD, and continuing education programs in emerging fields linked to Cyber Security. It will have an interdisciplinary approach to security combining Mathematics (Cryptography) Digital Technology (Electronics, Computer Science, Systems Security, Privacy, Formal Methods, etc.), and Social Sciences and Law (Legal Frameworks, Practices, Acceptability).

CyberSchool will focus on theories, methods, and algorithms used to ensure security in a digital society as well as content security in a variety of contexts (mobility, cloud, industrial systems, etc.). Case studies may range from the Internet of Things to securing personal medical data in patient dossiers.

This University Research School will rely upon the expertise of the Universités de Rennes 1 and 2, ENS Rennes, 4 graduate engineering schools (CentraleSupélec, IMT Atlantique, INSA Rennes, and ENSAI), and Sciences-Po Rennes. It will also have close ties with the CNRS and INRIA labs and the Direction Générale de l’Armement (French Ministry of Defense).

DIGISPORT, DIGITAL SPORT SCIENCES

The goal of the DIGISPORT EUR is to create a unique international Graduate School, combining education and research in the fields of Sport Sciences and Digital Technology. DIGISPORT also aims to structure the Grandes écoles and university programs in Rennes in the fields of Sport Sciences, Computer and Data Sciences, Electronics, Social Sciences, and the Humanities, creating a multidisciplinary, transversal approach to respond to the need for new skills surrounding Sport in the digital age.

Led by the Université Rennes 2, DIGISPORT includes the Université de Rennes 1, ENS Rennes, INSA Rennes, ENSAI, CentraleSupélec, INRIA, the CNRS, the region of Brittany, and the Rennes Metropolitan government.

The third EUR awarded to Rennes higher education institutions is called “GS-CAPS” and is focused on creative approaches to the use of public spaces.
