Survey Design

Objectifs

Assessment will be based on three dimensions:

– Active participation in the course
– Presentation of an article
– Presentation of a survey

The final grade is the average of the grades obtained for the article and survey presentations, weighted by active participation in the course.

Plan

Survey design, between statistics and sociology

Sociological work: identifying a problem, a field, a population. Why quantify, how to measure: for which objectives, with which indicators, which categories (definition of household, social categories, types of company, etc.)?
The work of a survey statistician, from sampling to statistical processing
Specificities and similarities of household and business surveys

A collective effort involving numerous professions and partners

The design team
Key players: the interviewers
Comitology: scientific committee, steering and/or monitoring committee, ethics committee, etc.
Institutional players: CNIS, Label Committee, CNIL
